In this project I have developed my skills and understanding in moving image, using post production tools and techniques. I have done a range of filming using different lenses and filters and the editing was done in Premier Pro. In my research i have included Camera Angles, Movie terminology, Mise En Scene,Editing Terms, 1950's fashion and Fashion in Europe. Also i have done some research on some movie directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott.
I have researched camera angles to help me understand what angles of filming and photographing there is and also I have learnt the technical terms of the angles. And also I got to perform those techniques in my filming for this project. I have used various camera angles whilst filming the footage that i needed. As this project was about fashion i've done some research on 1950's fashion as it's my favourite fashion sense. In that research i have included a little bit of history about who was the first inventor of the clothing from that era. The clothing was very elegant but elegant at the same time.To find this information i have used internet and also some books from the library and some leaflets.
The initial idea for these videos was to make them quirky, interesting and bright. For Day Of The Dead video we have worked in groups. The idea was to make the video very bright and to show the loud and unique day that is celebrated in Mexico. Each one of us came up with different ideas and we have wrote them down and then filmed it as soon as we have done the make up and got all the props ready.
Another video that i had to do was an advert for a fashion show. Before starting filming I have done research on African Tribal culture and fashion. I have found a few images that i liked and i have printed them out so i had some sort of reference on how to do the make up on the models and what props we might need on the day of filming. For this video i didn't write any ideas down because i couldn't think of anything at the moment so I just started filming and then ideas started coming to my head.
The last filming that i have done was Japanese and Grunge fashion and culture. I've done research on both of those cultures to find out more about the clothing that they wear and anything that is relevant to the culture.
With the Day of the Dead filming, as a group we didn't do a lot of sampling because we wanted the filming to be spontaneous and unique so we just came up with ideas whilst we were filming the video.
When i was filming African Tribal video i wrote down some ideas on how i want the camera angles to be, the lighting and also the props that i want to use. I did some sampling with one model and i was trying to find the right light for the video and for the theme that i had for this video.
For the last video Japanese and Grunge fashion i have tried different camera angles and also done some sampling with different lighting and props such as flowers and ink with a paint brush.
For all of these videos i have used different lighting and camera angles, different props, make up and the editing has different effects on the videos.
I think that the most interesting and unique video that i have made was the Japanese and Grunge video. I think it's unique because the video is so elegant and it shows so much emotions on the models face and also the music makes it a very gentle video. Also the Grunge video worked really well because the light makes the whole video stand out and there is some highlights and shadows on the models face and body which at some point makes her have a very edgy personality which is what i wanted to achieve in this video.
Other videos that i have done aren't as good as the other ones because of some small things that didn't work out. The Day of the Dead video was very bright and unique but the song that we have used didn't really go with the theme and that's why i don't like it as much as the other video.
The weakness of this project was that some parts of the editing and filming could have been done better using different techniques, lenses and filters. On the other hand the strengths of this project is that all of the videos have some emotions and feelings to them. I have learnt a lot of editing and filming techniques whilst doing this project and i have also learnt how to work with models and how to communicate with them. If i would do this project again i would organise myself a little bit more and write more ideas down so the filming would be better.
